Management Team Gets Educated in Microsoft Excel
Lean training, quick die change, die cast process training, and supervisory skills training. All topics of classes scheduled for 2014 at Premier Die Casting by a strategic educational plan as a result of a Workforce Grant received from the State of New Jersey.
One area often overlooked for productivity improvement in a manufacturing operation is the use of Microsoft Excel, which is used by a majority of people in a supervisory role. This past weekend Premier held a class in Microsoft Excel for the management team with the intent to improve their skills and save time in using spreadsheets.
NJ Manufacturing Extension Program
The class training was provided by the NJ Manufacturing Extension Program, a not-for-profit company that works with New Jersey’s small to mid-sized manufacturers to help them become more efficient, profitable and globally competitive. As with this Excel class at Premier, NJMEP provides NJ companies with the training, tools, and know-how to continuouslyimprove productivity, grow, and compete both locally and globally.
Backed by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), NJMEP has access to a vast number of both public and private resources and certified trainers with 20+ years of experience in business and industry.
NJMEP’s fee for services are greatly reduced compared to businesses and productivity consulting firms because they receive federal funding. This funding enables NJMEP to set fees charged for implementation assistance below market rates. NJMEP operates as a private sector entity and draws its staff from the business community.
The Future of Excel at Premier
The instructor did a great job in explaining some of the many formulas and formatting techniques in Excel. Using these newly learned Excel tools the Premier team will go forwards in their jobs and save time.
