Premier Die Casting's Spanish Web Based Classroom

Aluminum Die Casting Instruction for NADCA and the Industry

May 22, 2014

As part of an ever advancing industry, the needs for higher education are growing.

In conjunction with NADCA, Premier Engineered Products is providing a leading role in a new level of training for operators in foreign language. One of Premier’s leading die casting experts, Sammy Medina, is branching out to the rest of the die casting industry with new Spanish speaking training classes.

Sammy Medina, seen above, has been in the die casting industry for 17 years, and is currently one of the supervisors for Premier Engineered Products. He is well versed in the industry, knows the standards for both aluminum and zinc die casting, and is an expert in troubleshooting defects. In hopes of advancing the industry, Sammy is working closely with NADCA in order to provide his knowledge in a multilingual web-based classroom.

NADCA is currently working with Premier Engineered Products on the first ever Spanish series webinar schedule. The three topics being covered in these webinars are: Die Casting Machine Safety, Metal and Material Handling, and Defects. These courses have never before been available in Spanish making this a huge leap for die casters across the country.

Machine Safety

Die Casting Machine Safety will cover multiple details that are crucial to the safety of both the operators of the machinery as well as the machine itself. There will be an important discussion of an industry procedure called ‘Lock-out-Tag-out’, which involves de-energizing the die casting machine in order for operators to safely work while not scheduled for production.

Metal and Material Handling

In Metal and Material Handling, Premier Engineered Products will be promoting the importance of material quality in both raw and finished product. Die casting uses a variety of alloys in aluminum, zinc, magnesium, and more. It is crucial that proper procedures are followed to insure the materials used are of the highest quality. This includes how the metal is melted, transportation, furnace maintenance, and alloy composition.

The final course will be a Defects class. Premier Engineered Product’s very own Sammy Medina will be giving his own personal experiences in the classroom to better help others in the Spanish speaking community succeed in the die casting industry. A multitude of variables from mold construction to process control will allow attendees the ability to troubleshoot a variety of complex defects and provide corrective actions to their problems.
